Prosthodontics(Preceptorship)
Overview
This program is designed to provide preceptors with a broad and integrated understanding of prosthodontics—including fixed, removable, implant, and maxillofacial prosthodontics. Participants will observe real clinical care delivered by Yonsei prosthodontic faculty and join resident educational activities to gain insight into diagnosis, treatment planning, and contemporary digital dentistry workflows (e.g., CAD/CAM, facial scanning, jaw-motion tracking).
Program Objectives
- Understand the full diagnostic process and treatment planning pathway in prosthodontics.
- Learn foundational principles and clinical application guidelines across fixed, removable, implant, and maxillofacial prosthodontics.
- Build familiarity with digital dentistry equipment and software; participate in guided, non-patient practice sessions where permitted.
- Observe clinical and dental laboratory procedures to understand the full clinical–laboratory workflow.
Program Features
- Each preceptor is paired with a supervising faculty member (Supervisor).
- Specific training content, daily schedules, and focus areas are customized and finalized in consultation with the assigned Supervisor.
Program Components
- Resident academic activities : attendance at case presentations, diagnostic/treatment-planning seminars, and discussion sessions (during the Academic Semester).
- Clinical observation : participation in faculty clinics and consultation sessions, with case discussions as appropriate.
- Digital workflows : structured introduction to clinical digital protocols for fixed/removable prostheses and related laboratory processes.
- Laboratory observation : observation of prosthetic fabrication steps and communication with dental technicians.
- Research opportunities (by agreement) : collaborative research involvement may be available upon consultation with the Supervisor.
- Conference involvement (by agreement) : opportunities to attend or present at academic meetings may be arranged, subject to availability and eligibility.
Duration
- Domestic dentists (Korea) : minimum 1 month to maximum 6 months.
- International dentists : minimum 1 month to maximum 12 months.
Exact dates and final schedules will be determined upon mutual agreement following pre-admission consultation.
Selection Process
- Application submission, followed by internal review and individual notification
- Eligibility requirements: Graduates of accredited dental schools holding DDS, DMD, BD, or an equivalent dental degree.
Required Documents
- Personal Statement (Statement of Purpose): motivations for the program, future career plans, and a brief summary of clinical and/or research experience.
- Certificate of Graduation
- Curriculum Vitae (CV).
- Letter(s) of Recommendation.
- Passport copy.
Program Fees
- Domestic track : from KRW 3,000,000 per month (applicable to domestic preceptors; holders of a Korean dentist license may be subject to different terms as determined by the department).
- International track : from USD 2,500 per month.
Final fees vary depending on trainee qualifications, content of program and duration

Patient contact, independent diagnosis, or direct clinical treatment are not included unless explicitly permitted under separate institutional policies and applicable regulations. Further details, including schedules and available modules, will be finalized in consultation with the Supervisor.
