Periodontics(Preceptorship)
Program Overview
The Preceptorship Program in the Department of Periodontology at Yonsei University Dental Hospital is designed to provide structured clinical and academic exposure for dentists seeking advanced training in periodontology and implant dentistry. Yonsei University has played a central role in the development of modern dental education and clinical practice in Korea. The Department of Periodontology has been instrumental in establishing contemporary periodontal and implant treatment protocols and continues to contribute to advancements in both clinical practice and research. This program offers a faculty-based training model in which participants are assigned to specific mentors, allowing for focused exposure to subspecialized clinical areas, including periodontal surgery, implant therapy, and regenerative procedures. Emphasis is placed on evidence-based decision-making, interdisciplinary treatment planning, and integration of digital technologies into clinical workflows.

Program Structure
Clinical Observation
Participants will engage in structured clinical observation under faculty supervision:
- Observation of periodontal surgical procedures and implant placement
- Exposure to complex cases including ridge augmentation, sinus augmentation, and peri-implant disease management
- Understanding of diagnostic protocols and treatment planning strategies
- Optional participation in chairside assistance, depending on institutional policy
Digital Workflow Integration
The program incorporates digital technologies as part of routine clinical practice:
- Digital implant planning and guided surgery
- Integration of intraoral scanning and digital prosthetic workflows
- Application of digital tools in diagnosis, planning, and execution
Didactic Education &Seminars
Participants will be involved in structured academic activities:
- Departmental seminars and case conferences
- Evidence-based discussions on treatment planning and clinical decision-making
- Journal clubs focusing on critical appraisal of current literature
- Faculty-led lectures on advanced clinical and scientific topics
Treatment Planning &Case Discussion

Research &Academic Activities
Participants may engage in research activities under faculty supervision:

Faculty &Curriculum

Eligibility
- Graduates of accredited dental schools or equivalent qualifications
